A NEW CHAPTER

By Jhoanna B. de Guzman PROVERBS 31 WOMAN “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” – Proverbs 19:21 I am that type of person who is fearful and resistant to change. Growing up, I have been constantly making plans, following routines, and basically putting things under my control. But what I realized lately is that in life you must learn to take on uncertainties. If needed, tweak your plans and maybe, be brave to even start a new chapter. Nevertheless, many of us are praying for a new chapter, but are always afraid to turn the page. When fear, nervousness, and anxiety creep in, we are choosing to become still and indecisive. That’s what happened to me recently. I found myself at a crossroads. I kept on delaying things because I was wavering, as I always wanted to be on the safe side. Until one day, due to long indecisiveness, God began to intervene. He decided for me. I was left with no choice but to go along. After that one phone call, an unexpected thing happened. I suddenly felt at peace. It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. If only I wasn’t so afraid to decide back then, I would have experienced this tranquility sooner. One thing I have learned is that you don’t need to figure everything out before you take a step. You don’t need to be sure of everything before you decide, you just need to have faith. That one thing that I was so afraid would happen, happened. Yet, it felt good.
