WHY PEOPLE HATE?

by Jhoanna B. de Guzman PROVERBS 31 WOMAN   Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” – Romans 12:19 Have you experienced being hated for no reason? To be slandered and condemned yet, you didn’t know their inclination as to why? It happens to most of us. Sometimes, someone has a strong opinion about us, about how we think and what we do. And most of the times, they tend to see the negative. The problem is, we fail to remember that it usually says more about them than whatever their opinion happens to be about. Day in and day out, we come across them. As long as we live on earth, we will encounter different types of people with different types of moods and intentions. Hypocrisy, jealousy, slander – we cannot escape these things. In Psalm 38:19: Many have become my enemies without cause, those who hate me without reason are numerous. And the normal reaction is to hate in return; to take revenge, but the first thing that you may want to do is to contemplate the possible reasons why this is happening. It’s productive to take a hard look inwardly. After all, self-awareness is a very essential skill one must develop. When we encounter a hateful person, we should take into account our own flaws. Have I wronged him? Did I say something hurtful? Am I being critical? Now, if you’ve answered yes to any of these, take responsibility. Nevertheless, it becomes different when we did nothing wrong.
