THE HEROINE’S JOURNEY AND MISS UNIVERSE GREAT BRITAIN: CELEBRATING THE FEMININE SPIRIT

LUISA BURTON GREEN IS THE NEW SEXY 12 years ago, I stepped onstage to compete for Miss Universe Great Britain. One year later I returned and did the same thing again, to no avail. It’s 2025 and I’m back to give it another shot. Could the third time be the charm? At the age of 34, Miss Universe lifted the age restrictions for women, so I am now eligible to compete again. Miss Universe is making great strides towards the inclusivity of all women so we can elevate and celebrate women from all walks of life. The competition is about women empowerment. Beauty is not defined by a number; it is defined by your heart. How does this relate to “The Hero’s Journey” by Joseph Campbell, as pictured above – or should I say, in my case, “The Heroine’s Journey”? I heard the call to adventure many years ago. I’d see the women on stage, glistening and shining their light and I knew one day I wanted to be there too. Being a beauty queen is the closest thing to being a female politician. It gives you a platform and visibility to create a real and lasting impact on the hearts and minds of the communities around you. That is why I love pageantry. People look at my social media and ask if I’m an influencer. I politely tell them I’m an “impacter”. True influence, to me, is about how much measurable and definable change you can make in the world. I am a heart-centered social conscious leader that is breaking glass ceilings with a feminine touch.
