The 67th Miss Universe 2018 Pageant in Thailand

The pageantry world’s much awaited announcement is finally out!

In July 31, The Miss Universe Organization headed by Ms. Paula Shugart and reigning Miss Universe queen, Miss Demi Leigh Peters, were warmly welcomed by Mr. Thanawat Wansom, the rightful copyright holder of the 67th edition of Miss Universe before heading to meet the Ministry of Thai Tourism head Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat and other government officials to finalize the country’s hosting agreement for the most popular beauty pageant in the world this year.

Later that day, an official press conference was called at Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC) to formally announce that the meeting with Thai officials was successful and that the 67th Miss Universe pageant will be on December 17, 2018 at the Impact Arena Hall in Bangkok.

This month-long event is expected to boost Thai tourism with an estimated 6,000 people from around the world, including the beauty queens, their crew and pool of media to cover the activities and the finals night. Supporters and pageant fans are also expected to arrive and watch the coronation event live.

Ms. Shugart pleasantly mentioned that this will be the third time Thailand will host the Miss Universe and incidentally happen every 13 years. The first was in 1992, then 2005 and then this year. She also mentioned that there will be 90 contestants from across the globe and will arrive in Thailand in early November for the pre-pageant activities.

Also present at the press conference were Miss Apsara Hongsakul, Miss Universe 1965 and first Miss Universe from Thailand and Miss Natalie Glebova, Miss Universe 2005.

Sophida Kanchanarin, our recent featured personality in Siam Living, will vie for Thailand’s third crown.
