By Jhoanna D. Ruiz PROVERBS 31 WOMAN Life is ironic. Sometimes, those who stand the tallest are the ones who remain the most grounded. Humility is one of the most powerful yet underrated virtues. In today’s world, success is often measured by wealth, influence, and achievements. It’s easy to assume that those who have reached great heights have also grown in pride. But sometimes, the people we least expect to be humble are the ones who carry the most grace and kindness in their hearts. I was 23 years old when I was discovered by an incredible mentor who endorsed me to a well-respected publication. Suddenly, I found myself surrounded by new faces, attending events, and stepping into spaces I never thought I’d belong to. Of course, I expected to feel insignificant, like a speck of dust in a room full of influential people. I always told myself, “Who am I? I’m just nobody. Who would even talk to me?” But you know what? I was wrong. A defining moment in my journey was when I was asked to cover and write about a major event. That night, I met someone who changed my perspective completely. She hugged me and made me feel seen. She’s warm, genuine, and even introduced me to her friends as one of her writers. I’ll never forget that night. That was just the beginning. After that first meeting, I was invited to other events, including a magazine’s anniversary. She gave me so many opportunities—she’s truly a divine connection. Through her, I met others who, despite their status, treated me with kindness and sincerity. And then there’s the irony of it all.
