ONCE MORE WITH FEELING: YEAR TWO OF STYLE LA’S SUPERMODEL SEARCH

If you subscribe to our parent magazine Manila Up!, you may have come across a recent write-up in my column “Glass Half-Fil” on Style LA’s Supermodel Search. While that offered a tantalizing tease into the night’s goings-on, I am here to bring you the full insight and a look inside what went on at Downtown LA’s Hotel Indigo. On November 20th, Style LA hosted its second ever Supermodel Search – an event that simultaneously commemorated year 7 for Manila Up! as well as the 4th anniversary of sister magazine EXQUISITE International. Publisher of all three magazines, Sonia Bermejo, opted for the decadent soiree in lieu of a traditional holiday party – not only to elicit a little fashion and fun to liven-up the evening, but also draw attention to a worthy cause. The event served as a fundraiser for the 21 Pineapples Foundation, who raise awareness for individuals with Down Syndrome. Additionally, proceeds benefited the Don Bosco Youth Center in Tondo, Manila, Philippines. The supermodel hopefuls checked-into registration at 5pm, shortly followed by red carpet coverage at 5:30pm. Sage Stevens of “Shout Out With Sage”, Manila Up!’s very own Grace Aguilar, and yours truly on behalf of Telerey TV, conducted interviews amidst the two backdrops. The step-and-repeat photo walls shared the space with several other showcases. Artist Mona Niko had a few of her art installations erected, while purse designer Mercedes Brunelli Collections and accessory designer Desert Daisy Jewelry respectively had their wares not only in the show, but displayed on tables as well. The foyer before the event hall was a bastion of activity. The fully catered event began serving at 6pm, as were the complimentary drinks provided.
