JAPAN HONORS TWO-TIME OLYMPIC CHAMPION CARLOS YULO

By Joy FONG METRO SCENE Japan’s Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Ambassador Endo Kazuya, hosted a celebratory dinner for Filipino gymnast Mr. Carlos Yulo for his achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He also presented Mr. Yulo with the Ambassador’s Special Award in recognition of Mr. Yulo’s exceptional contributions to the world of sports and to Japan-Philippines relations. Accompanying the night’s guest of honor Mr. Yulo was Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) President Ms. Cynthia Carrion. Other notable guests in attendance included Senator Joseph Victor “JV” G. Ejercito of the Philippine Senate Committee on Sports, Hon. Aniela Bianca D. Tolentino and Hon. Michael L. Romero of the Philippine Congress’ Youth and Sports Development Committee, Philippine Olympics Committee President Abraham Tolentino, Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann, and Federation Internationale de Gymnastique President Watanabe Morinari. In his remarks, Ambassador Endo commended Mr. Yulo’s dedication and determination in achieving this historic milestone for the Philippines. He also expressed how deeply honored Japan is for playing a significant role in Mr. Yulo’s development as an athlete and hopes Japan and the Philippines can continue working together to develop more world-class gymnastics talents.
