A Flare For the Lens By Ani Ignacio

Photographer, fine artist, and film industry personnel, the Sydney-based Ani Ignacio is the latest addition to our cornucopia of international columnists. Her writing is as open and giving as she is. Originally from Manila, she has a passion for creation regardless of the medium, and we look forward to what she will be penning for us.

Ani graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Metro Manila. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a Major in Advertising Arts. It was this background that allowed her to break into the filmic world, working on international productions.

Her first film was Delta Force 2: The Columbian Connection, directed by Aaron Norris and starring Chuck Norris. She was a part of the costume department. Following this movie, she was also in the costume department for DNA, directed by William Mesa and starring Mark Dacascos.

Between the two productions, Ani also worked on a TV series produced by BBC Cymru Wales called “Screen One”. The show is an anthology which included her episode named “Filipina Dreamgirls”. Directed by Les Blair, on this program Ani helped with the props and set department.

With such a varied background of working with different nationalities, film & TV productions, as well as within different faculties, it is no wonder that Ani possesses an eye for finding beauty and persons/stories of interest anywhere she looks. Channeling her experience and people skills, her column will share the root of her passions and hopefully inspire your calling as well. We warmly welcome her to the team and trust our readership will find her equally riveting!
