ASEAN Drive for Green Mobility Kicks Off in the Philippines

The ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 (AUD2025) officially began its Philippine leg today at the Embassy of Malaysia in Salcedo Village, Makati City. This marks another milestone in a cross-border journey that promotes sustainable transportation and stronger cooperation among ASEAN member states. Organized by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii)—an agency under Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI)—and supported by PROTON, the initiative seeks to highlight the potential of electric vehicles (EVs) and green mobility across Southeast Asia. Among the distinguished attendees were H.E. Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Ambassador of Malaysia; H.E. Agus Widjojo, Ambassador of Indonesia; H.E. Sin Saream, Ambassador of Cambodia; H.E. Constance See, Ambassador of Singapore, H.E. Megawati Manan, Ambassador of Brunei; Mrs. Darli Nwe, Embassy of Myanmar Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i.; Mr. Rangsant Srimangkorn, The Royal Thai Embassy Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i.; Mr. Mouablong Xayvue, Embassy of Lao PDR Deputy Chief of Mission; Mrs. Norazrinawati Kamaruddin, Head of Division, Strategic Research and Policy Development, Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii); and Mr. Elvin Garcia, Automotive Sector Champion, Manufacturing Industries Service, Board of Investments (BOI). The convoy, which started in Hanoi, Vietnam, will pass through multiple ASEAN countries including the Philippines and Singapore, before concluding in Malaysia. Its final destination will be the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, taking place at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from May 9 to 15, 2025. Beyond promoting electric vehicles, AUD2025 aims to advance Malaysia’s green transportation goals, encourage shared regional policies on EVs, and strengthen ASEAN’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The convoy also supports the development of a regional value chain for EV production and component manufacturing.
