BEAUTY PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT: A TESS-TAMENT TO HARD WORK & AGELESS SKIN

What has changed however is the commitment the newer generations put into looking good – not only for conforming to what is considered “ideal” or “normal” – but putting the emphasis on feeling good as well. On the inside and the outside, the approach to skin health in its entirety, encompassing overall health as well, is what sets Dr. Tess Mauricio apart from other dermatologists. Originally from Manila, Philippines, Dr. Tess immigrated to America alongside her family in 1984. Despite a spattering of skin issues in her youth, everything from eczema to hyperpigmentation to scarring, dermatology was not her initial calling. Like most immigrant families, they were just trying to get by. She worked at McDonald’s, in real estate, even tried her hand at door-to-door vacuum sales. It was ultimately her studious nature and good grades that set her on life’s intended course. After graduating valedictorian from Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego, continuing onto the University of California San Diego with a full scholarship and graduating summa cum laude, Dr. Tess would gain her “Dr.” from Standford Medical School, where she also met her future husband. Now celebrating 26 years of marriage, Dr. Tess and Dr. James Lee opened their practice, initially called Scripps Ranch Dermatology, before founding the well-known M Beauty Clinic. After practicing in Southern California for 20 years and branching-out to 3 different locations; San Diego, Chula Vista, and Beverly Hills, M Beauty Clinic has become a family affair.
