2018 Sweden National Day-“Swedishness”
18 For its National Day celebrations this year, the Embassy coined the
term “Swedishness” as its theme. Apart from commemorating the unification of
Sweden in 1523 and the crowning of King Gustav Vasa, Swedishness celebrates
this special day by underscoring unique features that reflect an updated and
modern Sweden.

Narrow Road that Leads to Paradise - (Saint James Park)
22 The place is called Saint James Park. The name was taken from the
former hospital for the leper dedicated to Saint James, The Less. In 1532 Henry
VIII developed the site as another deer park. Elizabeth I and James I contributed to
the aesthetic ambience, but it was Charles II who made exciting changes.

LIVING IN THE MOMENT MAUI STYLE
26To live in the present moment is a mantra of the newly conscious. So it
is with the simple folk who have inhabited this gem of real estate for generations.
They follow the ebbs and flows of the tides, sit with nature as they revel and show
appreciation in various ways, doing it in present time.

MY HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
48I am fondly called “Tata” by neighbors and friends. In the village, there
was no electricity and no running water. We take our baths and wash our clothes
in the river, situated deep in the forest. We carry our laundry on top of our heads
walking though the wooded rugged terrains in hopes that we don’t encounter or
step on snakes, in which I did a few times.
