Fashion is a tremendously competitive industry. To get noticed amongst the throng often takes vast amounts of money. But few have the resources to compete with the big brands or those with wealthy backers. That does not mean that the designers who are not household names are any less talented. Often, they have to not only excel at their craft but also be more innovative and creative to get any recognition. Having been a successful international model for over a decade, I attend most of the international fashion weeks and numerous fashion events around the world. Sometimes I am fortunate enough to work with some of the most famous fashion designers, but I also come across less well known designers who amaze me with their creativity and designs. Here are three/four designers whom you may never have heard of but whom you should really look out for. ELI B Eli B is an Italian brand that epitomises “La Dolce Vita”, where fashion is in perfect symbiosis with art in a celebration of the joys of life. You can’t help but smile when you see her wonderful creations. They just bring happiness to not only the wearer but also to everyone around. The style evokes memories of the fun-filled and rebellious 1950s but with a modern artistic twist. Uber feminine with clean lines make her dresses ideally suitable for the wearer to personalise their look to reflect their mood and spirit. One could easily imagine Audrey Hepburn jumping out from the screen in one of her creations representing a romantic, yet chic look.
