The Italian Embassy in Manila celebrated the 76th Anniversary of Italy’s Republic. The day began with a cocktail reception at the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. The celebration also marked the 75th Diplomatic Relations between the two nations of Italy and the Philippines. The event was attended by a large number of people; more than 400 guests from the Philippine government, diplomatic corps, consular corps, business leaders, and members of the Italian community. Joining the Italian Ambassador Marco Clemente in the toast was Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary, Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Apostolic Nuncio Charles James Brown. The national anthems of Italy and the Philippines were performed by the charming and magnificent choir, Young Voices of the Philippines. Among the VIP guests received by Ambassador Clemente and his wife, Maria Rosaria, was Ms. Cielito “Honeylet” Avanceña. The event, which also announced the candidacy of Rome in EXPO 2030, was not only very successful, but also very lavish. There was a free flow of Italian “vino rosso”, “vino bianco” and “prosecco” for the celebration.
