THE NOT-SO-LITTLE PRINCE: A ONE-ON-ONE WITH JUAN LE PRINCE

By: Naiia Lajoie   It has been just over a year since we last caught up with Chilean actor Juan Le Prince. At the time, the former cover model for EXQUISITE International was well on his way to breaking into the entertainment industry; having rubbed elbows with Hollywood elite as his Instagram reveals, as well as working on a few projects he was unable to disclose. No longer under NDA, when we caught up at his photo shoot for Manila Up! Magazine, Juan dished what he had been working on. Remaining true to championing his LGBTQ cause, the actor filmed a few productions for network TV and streaming platforms, wherein he shares his journey as a gay performer. He commented that it was more pertinent than ever that LGTBQ content be readily available and showcased in the mainstream as society seemingly remains/becomes more divisive.   As he sat in the makeup chair alongside Pasadena’s City Hall on Easter Sunday, he referenced again the continuous support he receives from his mother; the woman who elected to pull him from a discriminatory church setting and placed him in a welcoming one. This decision is what allowed Juan to accept himself, giving him the confidence to pour from his own past experiences into the cups of all the characters he portrays. Unlike Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s title character “The Little Prince”, the Juan we have come to know and love – though hailing from a little town – has big dreams and a lot of road to pave still, breaking ground for others like him who would like to follow in his footsteps.
